Media Training

who we are

Norbury Media's training unit is run by journalists and programme makers who are at the top of their game. So the week before your course we might have been training a blue chip company or delegates from the public sector. But we are just as likely to have interviewed the Prime Minister for Sky News. So we're current. And we're excellent trainers because we are passionate about communicating.

why media training is essential

The thought of being interviewed by a journalist is enough to bring the best of us out in a cold sweat. But it really doesn't have to be like that, we simply have to work hard to be a great communicator. After all, even Churchill spent the night before practising his off the cuff remarks.

So if you are someone who might have to give a media interview, it is essential to have media training. Because once you've said it, you've said it - there's no second chance. And with 24 hour news, the internet and social media, your message can be seen and heard by potentially millions of people. Not only that, it's there for posterity. Journalists love nothing more than going to their cuttings files or their archive library and reminding us of past mistakes.

We will give you the inside track on how the media works, what they want, how to get what you want and to avoid all the pitfalls. And remember we think it's down to three little words:

practise, practise, practise!

You'll get lots of that on one of our courses - you will be given numerous opportunities to interview using realistic tailor made scenarios. We know that different media need different approaches, so you can get practice with TV news crews, in the Studio, on Radio, over the phone Print, or even on Twitter. Our detailed feedback will help you to hone your messages and your delivery.

And don't forget our refreshers courses.

Refresher Courses

No matter how good a communicator you become, even the professionals can get rusty if they don't use their skills regularly. Our motto is Practise, practise, practise, so it's not surprising we offer refresher courses for everything we do.
